I like KitchenAid mixer. I had the classic four.5 quarts before and had plenty of fun with it. Great for kneading, making scones, etc. So, when I saw the five quart model on sale, I jumped at the chance to buy it. Same as before, but only bigger, right? Well, Kitchen aid artisan mixer worked great until I noticed that the dough was being left at the bottom of the bowl. So, I figured Kitchen aid artisan mixer is because of the height so I lowered Kitchen aid artisan mixer a bit. Now, keep in mind that nowhere in the booklet of instruction does Kitchen aid artisan mixer tell you how much the tolerance ought to be. I went to their live help to get that number which is 1/16??. (Another advice: Use paddle attachement for the height measurement. Dough Hook will give you falst reading) So, here I go with lower height setting. I noticed that the top part would twitch everytime it kneaded the dough. After making the dough, I found a ground up spot on the dough hook and scratch marks on the bowl. I had to replace the dough hook but fortunately, the scratch on the bowl was minor . So, one time again, I am trying to knead something. I thought I heard some scratching noise again, so I raised the height about a half turn. Next thing I do know, I could not lock the head in because nothing was lining up anymore. So, here?s my recommendation: Get KitchenAid for it is an awesome gadget to have.?
