Articles 20VN | Be Happy, First | Life Coaching | Happiness | Self ...

Many years ago, I used to think that happiness was an end result-something that had to be acquired. That, I would be happy once I had a great job, car, house, spouse, a certain amount of money in the bank, and so forth. My happiness was contingent on so many outer circumstances and situations being just so. That sort of happiness took so much effort and control-freakishness. My happiness was conditional, and thus fleeting. I almost wasted my entire life being unhappy, in the pursuit of this elusive happiness. No matter what I did, I could never attract the things I thought would make me happy. And, even if I did, it was never enough or permanent. Why? I was going about it all backwards!

The truth is, you have to be happy first. Unconditionally! You have to vibrate happiness in order to attract, recognize and appreciate happiness that is always present, all around you. You are not happy because you have a great life, you have a great life because you are happy! Positive energy attracts, negative energy repels. If you are not happy, a great job/house/spouse/whatever will still seem not enough, you will still feel empty, and you will lose it because you are negative and ungrateful.

Be happy first, without reason. The less it takes for you to be happy, the happier you will be from moment to moment! Low-maintenance happiness is the way to go ;0). True happiness comes from within. Happiness from within, is in endless supply and puts you in control. Happiness dependent on outside sources and conditions keeps you powerless, hungering and wanting, desperately chasing the next fix. Happiness dependent on outer circumstances, keeps you a victim of circumstances.

When one's happiness is supposedly in other people's hands and control, people do desperate and ugly things. Just look around. Be in control of your own happiness. Choose to be happy, regardless, from moment to moment. Just remember: We increase what we focus on, so focus on the happiness. ;0)
