2 Health and Fitness Requirements for Weight Loss

People today want everything quick and easy and unfortunately that includes losing weight. Obesity is one of the great social issues plaguing us as a large population around the world is over-weight or obese. Some reports say that the obesity rate is over 60%. Anything over 25% is quite alarming.

Losing weight does not have to be as difficult as it is made out to be. It really requires two things: moderation in food intake and exercising. Unfortunately people love to eat fast and cheap food and they do not like taking the time to do physical activities that will burn enough calories to matter.

People are strapped for time and money which means they buy food that is quick to make and cheap. Unfortunately that type of food is typical high in fat, unhealthy additives and calories. The proper diet includes fresh foods like fruits and vegetables, lean meats, chicken and fish. These take time to prepare a meal from and are typically more expensive than a simple microwave dinner.

There are many diet programs that have prepared meals which are simply heated up. The calories are already counted and the meals are healthy and mostly tasty. However, they are very costly and at some point the person purchasing them will grow tired of those types of prepared meals. Their lifestyle has not really changed and they will probably go back to simply buying cheap and fattening ready-made meals. It is best to learn how to buy, prepare and cook healthy meals. Clipping coupons can help greatly with reducing the cost.

Exercising is the other requirement for losing the unwanted pounds. Obviously for those who have never been physically active before, a trip to their doctor to get checked out is a great idea. But mostly it is about getting up and moving. For the uninitiated, walking is a great start, but at some point more rigorous activities should be instigated. Running is one of the best means to losing weight. The only equipment needed is a decent pair of running shoes. Start out slow and build your way up to a couple of miles 4 or 5 times a week. Getting a heart rate monitor and monitoring your effort is also very beneficial at some point. But for now simply moving is the important thing.

Joining a gym or fitness center is another good option. There are many machines and weights that are useful for getting in shape. They also feature strength training and cardio classes that are fun and beneficial to attend. These will all help in your goal of losing weight.

Getting in shape and losing inches is simple but it is not easy. It requires adjusting what and how much food you eat and exercising. It takes motivation and for some a lifestyle change. But it is one that will make you healthy and fit.
