PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ? One new tech toy kids will be clamoring for this holiday season?
The new Nintendo Wii U ? which was released Sunday.
And the new system is hard to find, but KDKA managed to get a preview.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette?s ?game guy,? Max Parker, explained the difference between the new Wii U and the previous version of the gaming console.
?This is the first HD Nintendo console ever,? Parker said, ?? this is a big step for them with the HD.?
He says the most noticeable difference is in what?s being played on the television.
The company has put a lot of resources into making the new system, because if it fails, it could mean the demise of Nintendo, Parker said.
?They need this to be a rousing success,? Parker said.
For current Wii owners ? the new Wii U games are not compatible with the current system. Nintendo is launching a version of Super Mario Brothers to go with the new system when it first comes out.
But, the company plans to have 30 to 40 games available by the end of the year.
The base model comes in white, costs $300 and has 8 gigabytes of memory.
The deluxe model comes in black, costs $350 and has 32 gigabytes of memory ? and the $50 price difference is worth it Parker says.
?Eventually you are going to fill up your hard drive,? Parker said.
