Michael is an internet marketer. A full time blogger who enjoys writing, researching, reading online, watching Youtube videos. I have a bachelor degree in Environmental Health. You can read about ethical issues in the workplace and workplace rights.
Social media is meant to be a platform for people who want to be social. ?I have met friends and family on my social media contacts, but at the same time I have become annoyed by some of the ways people choose to use their platform.
There are so many annoyances on social media, but I am limiting myself to five.
My number one annoyance?is??..drum roll please.
People who use vulgar language to make a point.
I am not just talking about cursing words.
Words of a sexual nature are offensive as well.
I hate it when people use words with a sexual undertone.
If you are looking for a date visit a dating site.
Social media is not your calling card.
Some people are taking the social aspect too far.
Social could mean bringing the masses together, talking to people who share your common interest, encouraging others, sharing bits and pieces of your life, or just sharing interesting news of value.
If you notice it does not take vulgarity to share any of those status updates.
I wonder if people are running out of words to express themselves or do people think it is cool to use offensive language.
Do not get me wrong I use curse words and I sometimes use questionable phrases but I know the place for such language.
So this not a judgement against people who use curse words.
I notice other places where people use vulgar language.
So, I mentioned social media because that is where I am more than likely to witness such behavior.
The internet itself is a more likely suspect. ?There are ethical ways to behave on the internet.
People if you do not respect others at least respect yourself.
Potential employers, current employers, children, mothers, fathers, clergy members, lawyers, and people you respect are noticing how you behave in the public.
This is not your home, bedroom, job, or a private phone call.
I am a firm believer in protecting your privacy but things other people can see is not private.
Let?s watch our behavior a little better online. ?You are better than a person who uses mindless banter or a person with?discretionary?moments online.
You know one of my online annoyances.
I had to separate this article into 5 parts so I could?adequately?describe my frustration of internet ethics.
What annoys you online?
How can we clean up the internet?
Can we clean up our online ethics or have people gone too far?
