VA FHA Streamline After Short Sale Foreclosure

CAN YOU QUALIFY FOR A VA OR FHA STREAMLINE REFI AFTER A FORECLOSURE OR?SHORT SALE?
Short answer ? yes (if you meet all fha/va streamline guidelines). ?Having a foreclosure or short sale on your credit report typically puts you firmly planted on the sideline with regard to buying a qualifying for a new mortgage. ?HOWEVER it does not necessarily eliminate a current FHA or VA loan holder/home owner from getting approved for a ?streamline? refinance (or as VA calls it an IRRL). ?VA and FHA streamlines are considered non-credit qualifying loans (they also do not typically require an appraisal or income verification). ?While an FHA or VA borrower must still meet minimum credit score guidelines to qualify for either version of the simplified refi, the non-credit qualifying nature of the FHA and VA streamline make it much easier for a homeowner to qualify and lower their interest rate.

Veterans that currently have a high rate VA home loan and FHA homeowners with a pricey FHA mortgage can still qualify for a streamline refinance even if they have a short sale or foreclosure in their recent past. ? They do not necessarily need to wait the minimum required waiting period associated with each loan type for purchase applications. ?Streamline applications/loans are evaluated differently than purchase applications.

NON CREDIT QUALIFYING MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE ON FHA/VA STREAMLINES
Neither an FHA or VA underwriter will deny a borrower that is applying for an FHA/VA streamline based solely on the fact that they have a recent foreclosure or short sale. ?The primary basis for underwriting and approving streamline refinances is the borrowers payment history. ?Now of course that is a simplified explanation and there certainly is more behind getting approved for both an FHA and VA streamline. ?Check out these two links for more information on both:

VA STREAMLINE: Click HERE

If you are looking into your FHA or VA streamline refinance options and want to take advantage of today?s low mortgage rates please call or email me today. ?You can also submit a message in the contact form on this website. ?We will be sure to follow up with you within 1 hour.

*please note that if you are applying for a fully qualifying FHA or VA loan a foreclosure/short sale will have a very different impact on your loan application and you will be subject to standard waiting timeframes

Disgraced father of Pakistan nuclear bomb mulls politics

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - The Pakistani scientist who sold nuclear secrets to Iran, North Korea and Libya, may try his hand at politics to rescue a country he says has become worse than a banana republic.

Abdul Qadeer Khan, still lionized as the father of Pakistan's atomic bomb despite his fall from grace in 2004, may have some appeal ahead of elections due next year.

Many Pakistanis are deeply frustrated with their leaders over everything from chronic power cuts to their strategic ties with the United States, and they might welcome someone seen as a national hero on the political stage.

"I want to bring change and help the people of Pakistan, like I did back in 1974, when India test fired its nukes," Khan told Reuters in an interview at his heavily guarded Islamabad home. "Now, today, once again this country needs my help."

Khan's new movement, Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Pakistan, or Movement For Protection of Pakistan, is urging the South Asian nation's youth to be heard through national elections and break the stranglehold of traditional political dynasties.

The 76-year-old scientist says Pakistan's young people should stop wasting time watching "useless" current affairs talk shows which dominate the airwaves every night and purge the country of corrupt politicians through the ballot box.

"The youth is 47 percent of this country's population, they can bring the change," said Khan, sitting in his study, near swords given to him by heads of state hanging on walls and Urdu poetry books on shelves.

"They should realize the importance of their vote and select those people in the next election who are clean."

Khan was at the centre of the world's biggest nuclear proliferation scandal in 2004 when he confessed to selling nuclear secrets to Iran, North Korea and Libya.

He was pardoned but placed under house arrest in 2004 by then president Pervez Musharraf. The government relaxed restrictions on him in 2009 but his movements are still limited.

There is a widespread belief in Pakistan that Khan was the victim of an international conspiracy against the country's nuclear programme.

Pakistani authorities deny any connection to Khan's smuggling ring but have never let foreigners question him.

Many Pakistanis still hail Khan as the man who enabled Pakistan to respond to arch-rival India's nuclear detonations with its own tests in 1998.

He fondly remembers working on Pakistan's nuclear programme in the 1980s and how then military ruler General Zia ul-Haq once kissed him on his forehead when significant progress was made.

Khan said his movement would register as an official political party if it gained momentum. So far, it is winning support from businessmen in the commercial capital, Karachi, as well as from a religious party, students and others.

"Lots of army officers ... a large number, still believe that I have done my best for this country, they respect me," he said.

"They know if I were not there, (the) Indians would have beaten them now."

Khan appeared healthy and said he gets a check-up every day from a nurse. He said he gets up at 6:30 a.m., never misses prayers and reads newspapers and makes calls. In the afternoon, friends often drop by to see him, he said.

BROKEN PROMISES

Khan seems determined to change what many see as a stale political landscape that has held the country back.

Civilian leaders are often preoccupied by power struggles or tension with the military, which has ruled the country for more than half of its 65-year history.

Critics say little attention is paid to a dizzying array of problems including a fragile economy, a stubborn Taliban insurgency, poor roads and infrastructure and an inadequate school system.

"All the previous promises have not come true. People are jobless. They have no food to feed themselves. This country is even worse than a banana republic," said Khan.

Pakistan, created out of Muslim-majority areas in colonial India 65 years ago, could face the same fate as Arab states which were swept by revolts if more effective leaders were not elected, he said.

"Let me tell you to come out of the fantasy that nothing will happen to this country because it was conceived in the name of God," he said.

"All the Arab and Middle East and other Muslim states were created with the same ideology but what happened to them?"

Khan says he has received invitations to lecture at universities and he intends to make road trips to visit supporters.

"So far, 1.5 million people from all over Pakistan have contacted us," he said.

It's not clear whether Khan will manage to translate his status as a national hero into votes, especially since he does not have total freedom of movement.

"I am at the moment only enticing people to come forward and bring change through their vote by selecting good people," said Khan, who has a dog and nine cats, and feeds dozens of wild monkeys that descend on his garden and pool from nearby hills.

"It looks difficult but if people start joining bit-by-bit it can get successful."

EKU Public Speaking

Wow. We had a few technology hiccups today, but I know we can work through it. After class, Josh shared a handy tool for creating images from the computer screen (snipping tool on Windows computers). Check out the Facebook group to find out how to use it.

To prepare for Tuesday's class, read chapter 3. Focus on the "giving feedback" section. I'd also like you to watch this video (see below or here's a link). While it's connection to feedback is a stretch, I think it touches on the "listening" section of the chapter nicely. In any case, the shared absurdity in the video summarizes our classroom experience today pretty well.

I also would like you to continue working on your memes and Prezi. Our speeches will begin on Thursday, not Tuesday like we originally planned.?

Have a great holiday weekend!

Immune system expert takes on leukemia and lymphoma

Carl Ware, Ph.D., director of Sanford-Burnham?s Infectious and Inflammatory Disease Center, was recently awarded a new five-year grant from the National Cancer Institute, part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, to examine how a family of cellular communication proteins?called cytokines?are disrupted in lymphoma and leukemia.

Leukemia and lymphoma are types of blood cancers?they can affect a person?s bone marrow, blood cells, lymph nodes, or other parts of the lymphatic system. According to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, one person in the U.S. is diagnosed with a blood cancer approximately every four minutes. While the survival rate for people with leukemia and lymphoma has increased in recent years due to research and new treatments, approximately 53,000 Americans died from these cancers in 2011.

Lymph node?the tissue where lymphoma originates?captured during the Ware lab?s previous experiments on HVEM and BTLA

Cytokines normally control the growth of white blood cells?immune cells that help the body fight infection. Two genes that encode cytokines?HVEM and BTLA?are frequently mutated in human lymphomas. The prognosis is worse for patients with these mutations. Researchers in Ware?s laboratory recently found new evidence that HVEM mutations in human lymphomas specifically alter cytokine function, wreaking havoc on cellular survival pathways and the immune system.

?This grant will allow us to explore how specific genetic changes?mutations?in cytokine genes contribute to the development of lymphoma,? Ware said. ?The cytokine gene we study, known as HVEM, is frequently mutated in cancers, particularly in follicular lymphoma. Our previous studies indicate that HVEM is important for regulating the immune defense against viruses. Now, we hypothesize that genetic changes in HVEM are not random, but specifically selected for?that they allow the cancer cell to evade immune controls. Understanding the nature of these mutations may allow us to design drugs that restore immune control of the lymphoma cell.

In this newest project, the team will further unravel the mechanisms behind HVEM and BTLA malfunction in human lymphoma cells. They will also examine the HVEM-BTLA system in mouse lymphoma models and use an array of molecules that can boost or block HVEM and BTLA cytokines to further probe their functions.

Ware and his team will also determine whether potential drugs directed at these cytokines can help stop the growth of lymphoma and leukemia.

?Ultimately, we hope these studies will provide the rationale to therapeutically manipulate these pathways as a method to treat leukemia, lymphoma, and related blood cancers,? Ware said. ?We?re thankful to the NIH for giving us the opportunity to pursue these ideas? and hopefully to save lives.?

The Grounds Guys Joins Forces with First Lady at Mayport Naval ...

On August 22, The Grounds Guys of Jacksonville owner and veteran, Rick Santo, joined forces with First Lady Michelle Obama at Mayport Naval Station in Jacksonville, Florida for the announcement that more than 2,000 companies had hired or trained 125,000 veterans and military spouses since the initial launch of the Joining Forces White House initiative in 2011.

The Joining Forces campaign was launched in an effort to support American veterans and their families during their employment, education and wellness endeavors. President Barack Obama asked the first lady to direct Joining Forces, while challenging for-profit businesses to hire or train 100,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2013. According to White House officials, this effort has resulted in a 20 percent decrease in veteran unemployment compared to last year.

?I want to send a very clear message to the men and women who are wearing ? or who have worn ? our country?s uniform and to their spouses: when you have finished your service to our nation, you?ve got 2,000 great American companies ready and waiting to bring you on board,? First Lady Michelle Obama announced at Mayport Naval Station.

In June 2012, Santo, who served in the army for four years, opened his own The Grounds Guys franchise in Jacksonville, Fla., serving commercial and residential customers with landscape maintenance, landscape enhancements and other services. ?I explored many franchise opportunities and landed on The Grounds Guys for a wealth of reasons. Through its veterans program, I was able to fulfill my dream of owning my own business and I support the opportunity to assist other veterans do the same,? stated Santo.

The Grounds Guys is a subsidiary of The Dwyer Group?, whose founder, Don Dwyer, Sr., founded VetFran in 1991 in order to assist military veterans open their own franchise. Today, almost 500 franchisors have joined the VetFran program. The Dwyer Group has helped 260 veterans open a franchise within its brands, and has awarded $1.4 million in financial discounts. In 2012, G.I. Jobs magazine named The Grounds Guys as a Military Friendly Franchise?. The Grounds Guys also ranks #40 on 1851?s Top 100 Franchises for Vets list.

On Nov. 11, 2011, The Dwyer Group joined the International Franchise Association and Michelle Obama in launching Operation Enduring Opportunity, a movement to hire and recruit 75,000 veterans and their spouses and 5,000 wounded warriors by 2014. Since the launch of Operation Enduring Opportunity, The International Franchise Association reports that over 7,200 veterans have begun careers in franchising, 4,200 of which are new franchise owners.

How Are Plus Size Women Viewed in Our Society? | Jackie's ...

Related eBooks

Plus size women are often viewed by society as utter disdain. People automatically assume that because a women is plus size that she is both lazy and unattractive. Often you will find people quietly saying, ? It is really a shame, she should loose some weight.? The really is that plus size women is not plus sized because they like it. Our society as a whole breads people to become overweight. Why? Just watch your favorite show on TV and what do you see? Lots of food advertisements which is intended to lure the viewers to eat. After all, with the stress, unemployment, and life issues food is a comfort. It actually feels good to go to McDonald to pick up that super sized quarter pounder with fries and a hefty super sized coke.

The society feels that plus size women can do something about it. But there are so many obstacles that keep these women large. Most plus size women are single parents raising children in this messed up world. The children have issues that affect large women and aggravates the problem. In addition, the clothes that plus size women have to wear does not add happiness to their life. Plus size clothing is often hard to find in the local department store which adds to the frustration of these women. Not to mention the styles, colors and sizes not being readily available when needed.

We live in a society plus sized women are often stereotyped and judged even though no one has gotten to know them. Most of us already know someone who is plus size that do not fit this criteria. I am a plus size woman who has to deal with being criticized and excluded merely because of my size. But when you look into the heart of a plus size women you will find lots of kindness and a desire to escape the issues associated with being plus sized. There is a silent suffering that accompanies this condition. We talk a lot of times about drug addiction but food addiction is I think the worst thing that can happen to any individual. The reason is because society promotes eating. Everywhere you look there is eating. There are billboards, restaurants on every corner, fast food places. Advertisers spend millions of dollars trying to get the plus size women to keep eating. Why do these women fall into the trap? Because it is comforting to know that somehow eating makes you fit in. Food excepts you. No rejection. However, the society we live in often rejects the overweight plus size woman for no reason. It is a discrimination that is daunting and irritating.

Maybe one day we will live in a society that will except plus size women for who they are and not because of their appearance. Being rejected by society is a terrible situation to endure just because of being overweight. I know most would say, ?Just do something about it?. Easier said than done. Its not because these women have not tried. But sometimes temptation is very hard to overcome. For some of these women, the stress of life prevents them from completing the steps necessary to protect their overall health and getting down to the perfect size.

I am not making excuses for the plus sized women but I am trying to make it clear that the society we live in is often cruel to these women. There are many cases where the plus women have conquered the problem of being overweight and is on a road of recovery but overall most struggle with many of the issues mentioned. If our society was more supportive of the plus size women then these challenges would be easier to overcome.

For Kids and Teens: Taking The Loan for emergency Need

For emergency need such as paying for hospital bill due to car accident, people will have financial difficulty if no insurance is taken. For such situation, depending on the saving will be the next thing in mind if you are already has sufficient saving. It is also worth to try finding some financial support from your family, friends and anyone who has good relationship with you. Since the help will be based on the social consideration, such help is not always being a full help. ?

For a better option, taking the online payday loans is the next choice that is worth to consider. The service mostly will give you less to wait compared with the ordinary loan around. The loan approval will be given in minutes and for such reason you will get the money on the same day if you set the application early. Even if you apply the loan late, you will get the loan for the next day. The money will be transferred in your bank account. So, it will be a safe way for any emergency need.?

Just like regular loan, there will be set of interest rate and the deadline for the payment. Paying the loan on time will give you a better reputation with the lender since there will be possibility that you will need the same financial help in the future. Make sure that you loan for the emergency need only to avoid borrowing too much and having paying difficulty in the end.

Israeli court rejects lawsuit over American's death

HAIFA, Israel (AP) ? An Israeli court ruled Tuesday that the military was not at fault for killing a U.S. activist crushed by an army bulldozer during a 2003 demonstration, rejecting a lawsuit filed by her parents.

The bulldozer driver has said he didn't see 23-year-old Rachel Corrie, a pro-Palestinian activist who was trying to block the vehicle's path during a demonstration in the Gaza Strip against the military's demolition of Palestinian homes.

The military deemed her March 2003 death an accident, but Corrie's parents said the driver acted recklessly and filed a civil lawsuit two years later.

Explaining the district court's ruling, Judge Oded Gershon said Corrie "put herself in a dangerous situation" and called her death "the result of an accident she brought upon herself." He said the military conducted a proper investigation and rejected the Corrie family's request for a symbolic $1 in damages and legal expenses.

Corrie's family, who flew in from the U.S. for the verdict, lamented the court's ruling.

"We are of course, deeply saddened and deeply troubled by what we heard today," said her mother, Cindy Corrie of Olympia, Washington. "I believe this was a bad day. Not only for our family but for human rights, the rule of law, and also for the country of Israel."

The family said it was strongly considering an appeal to the Israeli Supreme Court, but wanted to read the full verdict before making a final decision.

Corrie's sister, Sarah, held up a picture of her sister lying lifeless in bulldozer tracks. The family's lawyer, Hussein Abu Hussein pointed at it: "How did the bulldozer not see her?" he asked. To say that the driver did not see her "is lies to the living and also lies to the dead."

Following the verdict, the Israeli state prosecutor's office called Corrie's death a "tragic accident" but noted the court exonerated the military of "any blame for negligence." It said it had presented three investigations that found the driver could not have seen Corrie, and noted that the driver acted in a "a military action in the course of war."

"The work was done while exercising maximum caution and prudence and without the ability to foresee harming anyone," it said.

The home demolitions were part of an unsuccessful campaign to halt thousands of attacks on soldiers and Jewish settlers in southern Gaza, along the border with Egypt, in the preceding 3 ? years. On the day Rachel Corrie died, she and other activists had entered a closed military zone to protest the demolition policy.

According to the U.N. agency handling Palestinian refugees, the military had left more than 17,000 Gazans homeless in the four years after a Palestinian uprising against Israel erupted in September 2000. The demolitions drew international condemnation at the time.

In her death, Corrie became the embodiment of what Palestinian activists say is Israel's harsh repression of nonviolent protest to occupation. Israel says by entering conflict zones to try to interfere with military activities, activists recklessly choose to risk their lives.

Her parents have relentlessly pursued her case since going to court in 2005 after a military investigation cleared the driver.

They say they have spent $200,000 to fly in witnesses, attend 15 hearings and translate more than 2,000 pages of court transcripts.

At the news conference, Cindy Corrie read a passage from one of her daughter's letters, biting her lip as her husband, grim-faced, held a microphone for her.

"Life is very difficult. Human beings can be kind, brave and strong, even in the most difficult of circumstances," Rachel Corrie wrote. "Thank you for existing, for showing how good people can be, despite great hardship."

The Corrie case was the first civil lawsuit of a foreigner harmed by Israel's military to conclude in a full civilian trial. Others have resulted in out-of-court settlements.

Photo Gallery from the Rebus Works Food Truck Rodeo | Raleigh's ...

There were hundreds of people at Rebus Works this past Saturday to support the Saturday Market with a well-orchestrated food truck rodeo. As you walked up, you could hear the hum of the food truck generators. But then, the buzz from the crowd and the aroma of the food would overtake your senses.

Then there was entertainment. If GOUGE Wrestling won?t get you pumped up, then fire dancing from Cirque de Vol was sure to heat things up.

I brought the family out to see what the buzz was all about and it was a lively time. Of course, we bumped into friends, as I?m sure anyone who attended did. And then of course there was the array of food trucks to choose from.

Dining options included: ?Klausie?s Pizza,?Triangle Raw Foods,?Captain Poncho?s Tacos,?Sympathy for the Deli,?Chirba Chirba Dumpling,?Bulkogi Korean Barbeque?and?Porchetta. Locopops and a variety of beers were on the dessert menu. Big Boss? Angry Angel and LoneRider?s Sweet Josie were on tap and cold cans of Mother Earth?s Second Wind and Modelo Especial sold out quickly while the stash of? PBR lasted slightly longer.

See the good time you either enjoyed or missed.

Arctic sea ice reaches lowest extent ever recorded

ScienceDaily (Aug. 27, 2012) ? The blanket of sea ice floating on the Arctic Ocean melted to its lowest extent ever recorded since satellites began measuring it in 1979, according to the University of Colorado Boulder's National Snow and Ice Data Center.

On Aug. 26, the Arctic sea ice extent fell to 1.58 million square miles, or 4.10 million square kilometers. The number is 27,000 square miles, or 70,000 square kilometers below the record low daily sea ice extent set Sept. 18, 2007. Since the summer Arctic sea ice minimum normally does not occur until the melt season ends in mid- to late September, the CU-Boulder research team expects the sea ice extent to continue to dwindle for the next two or three weeks, said Walt Meier, an NSID scientist.

"It's a little surprising to see the 2012 Arctic sea ice extent in August dip below the record low 2007 sea ice extent in September," he said. "It's likely we are going to surpass the record decline by a fair amount this year by the time all is said and done."

On Sept. 18, 2007, the September minimum extent of Arctic sea ice shattered all satellite records, reaching a five-day running average of 1.61 million square miles, or 4.17 million square kilometers. Compared to the long-term minimum average from 1979 to 2000, the 2007 minimum extent was lower by about a million square miles -- an area about the same as Alaska and Texas combined, or 10 United Kingdoms.

While a large Arctic storm in early August appears to have helped to break up some of the 2012 sea ice and helped it to melt more quickly, the decline seen in in recent years is well outside the range of natural climate variability, said Meier. Most scientists believe the shrinking Arctic sea ice is tied to warming temperatures caused by an increase in human-produced greenhouse gases pumped into Earth's atmosphere.

CU-Boulder researchers say the old, thick multi-year ice that used to dominate the Arctic region has been replaced by young, thin ice that has survived only one or two melt seasons -- ice which now makes up about 80 percent of the ice cover. Since 1979, the September Arctic sea ice extent has declined by 12 percent per decade.

The record-breaking Arctic sea ice extent in 2012 moves the 2011 sea ice extent minimum from the second to the third lowest spot on record, behind 2007. Meier and his CU-Boulder colleagues say they believe the Arctic may be ice-free in the summers within the next several decades.

"The years from 2007 to 2012 are the six lowest years in terms of Arctic sea ice extent in the satellite record," said Meier. "In the big picture, 2012 is just another year in the sequence of declining sea ice. We have been seeing a trend toward decreasing minimum Arctic sea ice extents for the past 34 years, and there's no reason to believe this trend will change."

The Arctic sea ice extent as measured by scientists is the total area of all Arctic regions where ice covers at least 15 percent of the ocean surface, said Meier.

Scientists say Arctic sea ice is important because it keeps the polar region cold and helps moderate global climate -- some have dubbed it "Earth's air conditioner." While the bright surface of Arctic sea ice reflects up to 80 percent of the sunlight back to space, the increasing amounts of open ocean there -- which absorb about 90 percent of the sunlight striking the Arctic -- have created a positive feedback effect, causing the ocean to heat up and contribute to increased sea ice melt.

Earlier this year, a national research team led by CU embarked on a two-year effort to better understand the impacts of environmental factors associated with the continuing decline of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean. The $3 million, NASA-funded project led by Research Professor James Maslanik of aerospace engineering sciences includes tools ranging from unmanned aircraft and satellites to ocean buoys in order to understand the characteristics and changes in Arctic sea ice, including the Beaufort Sea and Canada Basin that are experiencing record warming and decreased sea ice extent.

NSIDC is part of CU-Boulder's Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences -- a joint institute of CU-Boulder and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration headquartered on the CU campus -- and is funded primarily by NASA. NSIDC's sea ice data come from the Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder sensor on the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program F17 satellite using methods developed at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.

Approaching Our 1 Year?Anniversary

Posted by Joy Rose on August 26, 2012 ? Leave a Comment?

Oh, what a summer its been!

I?m writing from my ?Florida? office, (Kahwa Coffee House rocks St. Pete!) getting my daughter comfortably ensconced in her freshman year of college, while waiting for her brother to return from a summer of studying and living on a Buddhist monastery in Thailand. I can?t wait to see him this Tuesday. Oh what stories he?ll have to tell.

I kept extremely busy, as usual, while M.O.M. hosted 3 summer interns from the New York High School Of Art & Design. In addition to their helpful time with us, each intern created an exhibit for the museum, which will be on display when we reopen after our short break.

Abundant scheduling going on at M.O.M. We reopen to the public on Sept. 4th with our first fall kick-off event being an ?Intimate Conversation and Tea? with Suzanne Arms, brought to the museum by BirthFocus on Saturday, Sept. 8th at 10:30AM. Suzanne is a birth pioneer, ?Birthing The Future? and a birth activist and educator. More info is below, and our full calendar is available online.

The community play space and exhibits will be open Monday-Friday with new hours, from 10AM-6PM. Saturday is our ?private party? day ? to book yours simply write us at MOMmuseum@gmail.com or call 877.711.MOMS (6667). We specialize in performances, film screenings, workshops, birthday parties, baby showers and so much more.

Sunday is ?Family Day? with art, music and Story Time Under the Apple Tree from 11-5PM

General fees are $15 adults per visit, kids under 5 are free, over 5 are $5.00. Students are $12 and Senior Citizens are $13.

Exciting, break through things happening in our museum world, including a visit from Smith College, announcements about our new student run blog and administration of our recent MAP grant from AAM. Also, call for papers for our spring academic conference, coming May 4,5,6, ?is up online. As we continue to explore what ?family? looks like, papers and presentations on the subject of?A ?New? Motherhood?: Evolving Policies, Practices, and Families, will be discussed and disseminated at the upcoming conference.

Looking forward to being part of the ongoing Motherhood Movement and breaking new ground with the HER-story of women, mothers and families, worldwide.

Here?s the Suzanne Arms info:?BirthFocus?of NYC, hosts an ?Intimate Conversation and Tea with Suzanne Arms?

Blue Microphones Tiki USB microphone review: a thumbdrive-sized mic for mobile recording

Blue Microphones Tiki compact USB microphone a thumbdrivesized unit for mobile recording sessions

In recent years, mobile and compact recording gear has, like so many other gadget types, become smaller and smaller in stature. We've seen add-ons for smartphones and tablets that aren't much larger than a quarter, along with mobile mics that boast USB compatibility. The Blue Microphones Tiki continues the trend, offering the same premium aesthetics we've come to expect from the company, along with top-notch audio quality. The Tiki is said to perform at its best with Skype-style video chats and voice recording, thanks in part to an intelligent mute and noise isolation features.

Let's be honest, though. Purchasing a USB microphone for the sole purpose of video chatting will be a tough sell for most folks. People like podcasters will expect a bit more functionality from a peripheral like this. Luckily, the unit boasts a "Natural Recording Mode" that promises instrument-tracking capabilities as well. But does the Tiki handle online banter, voice recording and guitar sounds well enough to warrant a $60 purchase? And exactly how smart is the intelligent mute? Read on to see what we discovered when we gave this flash drive-sized microphone the full-on review treatment.

China?s government revenue is maintaining a relatively high growth speed despite a slowdown in the economy, with non-tax collections becoming the main driver of the expansion.

Among the 21 provinces that have published their fiscal data in the first four months this year, 17 have reported government income growing faster than 10 percent, with Tianjin leading the table at a growth rate of 27.3 percent.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the national fiscal income increased 12.5 percent in the first four months this year, when gross domestic product growth slowed to 8.1 percent in the first quarter.

The fiscal income growth rate was 18.9 percentage points less than that of the previous year, mainly because of retreating tax revenues that have decelerated 22.4 percentage points from last year.

However, non-tax revenue surged 52.8 percent in the first four months this year, becoming a main driver of the fiscal revenue increments.

A total of 188.9 billion yuan ($29.87 billion) more of non-tax revenues were collected in the first four months in 2012 compared with last year, which accounted for more than 40 percent of the fiscal income growth.

?Tax and fiscal revenue have always been key factors in the assessment of local governments,? said Wang Yongjun, a researcher with the Central University of Finance and Economics.

?To maintain the fiscal income growth amid the economic slowdown and structural tax cuts, some local authorities will explore the potential in non-tax collections.?
