Two local Freshman girls recently competed in a national tournament for figure skating and walked away with gold medals. Sydney Perry and Sophia Simard, both Londonderry residents, competed in the National State Games of America in Escondido, California. The girls were two of six figure skaters to represent New Hampshire in the competition. Both girls placed first in their individual divisions.
The National Games of America is an annual sporting competition that attracts some 400,000 competitors each year. Sports included in the event are skating, powerlifting, gymnastics, BMX, bowling, archery, badminton, surfing, soccer and much more. Each year, medal winners from 45 State Games nationwide earn the right to compete against others from across the country.
