A toddler child has been left deaf and blind after he contracted E.Coli during an outbreak at his nursery in May.
The 22-month-old child, who has not been named, suffered the loss of his sight, a severe loss of hearing, "complete kidney failure" and brain damage.
The family's solicitor Paul Santoni, of Freelands Solicitors, said he still remains "seriously ill in hospital".
Three babies were taken to the hospital in Aberdeen following the outbreak at Rose Lodge Nursery in Aboyne.
In total, there were seven confirmed cases of the illness stemming from the Deeside nursery.
Health chiefs at NHS Grampian blamed an inadequate standard of hand hygiene as the most likely reason for the spread of E.coli at a nursery in Aberdeenshire.
Mr Santoni said: ?The child has been constantly hospitalised since admission on 19 May. The child is still very seriously ill.
?The child was ten weeks in intensive care. He has had numerous blood transfusions and a seizure.
?An MRI scan has indicated that there has been some damage to the brain. He has lost his sight. He has severe hearing loss. He had complete kidney failure. His kidneys will not function again.
?This has had a massive effect on his bowel. Sections of the large and small colon were removed. The bowel may never return to normal. The child has a stoma. He is likely to be on dialysis for life.
?The long term effects are still unpredictable and uncertain other than that they will be very severe.
?The mother has been permanently residing in the hospital complex to care and attend to the child and is at the hospital from about morning until late evening seven days a week.?
Mr Santoni said the child?s mother felt a report into the incident ?does not answer anything for her?.
?She does not understand how the staff contracted E.Coli 0157. Was it just their failure to wash hands? She does not know how the outbreak occurred.
?She would like to have a proper explanation. She believes there has to be more information available and that the report prepared does not really cover these.
?She believes that she and the child have been forgotten about and that she is very angry about that. The nursery have shown very little interest in the child?s progress.
"She wants the public to understand how severe the effects of E.Coli 0157 can be and how much her child has suffered and how much he will continue to suffer by virtue of contracting it.?
Mr Santoni said that there was currently not sufficient evidence to prove legal liability but that the firm will continue its investigations to see if any legal action can be undertake against any of the parties involved.
An NHS Grampian spokesman: "If the parents require any further clarificiation, they should contact the health protection team. We will be happy to meet them to discuss their concerns."
