Music education may or may not be apart of your homeschool lesson plan.? Since it not a requirement in most states many homeschooling moms don?t teach it. For a fun day or activity though try a freestyle music day which is something we do every once in a while. Your children will enjoy the break and so will you because music tends to be fun and relaxing.
Just what is a freestyle music day? Well it is a day where I gather all sorts of music from Mozart to the Beatles and everything in between. We spend the day listening to the different music, talking about the origins of the style, the composers, the artists,countries that it is popular in, and more. When I say we play it all I mean we really play it all. We have Latin, Pop, Rock, Classical, everything.
What do my children learn from this? First and foremost they get an appreciation of all types of music. They also learn a lot about different cultures. You can tell a lot about a culture from its music. They learn different languages and places, that sometimes the same word can mean something different in another part of the world. They learn without realizing they are learning. They think they are having fun.
