A Home Makeover with Outdoor Rugs and Bath Rugs

Rugs and carpets are a stylish way to dress the floors. They complete a room by tying in all the different decorative elements together. A rug can be added to any part of the home; bath rugs add effortless style to the bathroom; outdoor rugs enhance the alfresco setting by the pool; area rugs help to visually separate different areas in the living room.

Rugs for the Outdoors Outdoor areas such as the back porch and the deck are used for entertaining, dining and relaxing. With outdoor rugs, these outdoor spaces will feel like a natural extension of your home. Outdoor rugs are exposed to the elements so they have to be resistant and sturdy.

You can decorate the outdoor areas with rugs made from natural materials like bamboo and sisal or synthetic materials like acrylic and polypropylene. Natural rugs are suitable for areas like the porch and artificial rugs are a good choice for the poolside.

Rugs in the Living Room Large living rooms benefit from the use of area rugs to define or separate areas, such as the seating and the dining areas. You can use contrasting rugs or different hues of the same color for the dining area and the seating areas. Rugs should be large enough to anchor the spaces and visually divide the room into separate areas. Try layering two rugs to create an interesting decorative accent in the living room. Choose a large rug in neutral tone like a large jute or sisal rug which will also add texture to the room. Layer it with a soft wool rug or a multihued quilted rug.

Rugs for the Bathroom Bath rugs serve a multifold purpose?--style and function. Rugs and mats prevent slipping in the bathroom by soaking up the water. A boldly-patterned rug can instantly perk up the bathroom.

Bath rugs crafted from natural material like bamboo are a good choice for the bathroom. Choose rugs that are resistant to mold and mildew. If your bathroom has a neutral color palette, an acrylic rug in red will introduce color into the room.

Give the floors a chic makeover with area rugs and outdoor rugs.
