The evenly-matched and entertaining 14th season of Dancing With the Stars is already heading down the home stretch, and the cream is rising to the top.
Would the familiar faces dominate the seventh night of competition? Or would one of the surviving fringe competitors mount a challenge to the favorites?
With Gladys Knight eliminated last Tuesday, the remaining seven stars got another step closer to the Mirror Ball. So who stepped up yet again this week?
As Mark Ballas said, "You can't spell classical without ass."
That really means nothing, other than the contestants did their best to add some sensual touches on a night devoted to classical music. And it worked.
Especially for Maria Menounos and Derek Hough, who earned the season's first perfect score (10, 10, 10)! for their vampire-themed paso doble. Bravo!
"You were so on fire!" raved Carrie Ann. "Katherine has been on the lead for the girls, but she better watch her back, 'cause you're coming right at her!"
Indeed, Katherine Jenkins actually received tempered praise for her ramba this week, but the Welsh opera singer still finished tied for second Monday.
Right behind her were co-male frontrunners William Levy and Donald Driver, whose Viennese waltzes brought the house down. Both should be safe.
Everyone else may need to worry, and none more than Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy, whose Argentine tango was called "Cirque du Soleil gone wrong."
Roshon Fegan got a "welcome back" hug from Carrie Ann but both Bruno and Len criticized the lack of tension in his feet during his Argentine tango, as well.
Len called Jaleel White's Viennese waltz not bad enough for him to be "really cruel" nor good enough to be "really kind." Perfectly mediocre, in other words.
In the team dances, Katherine captained Team Tango, which also included Jaleel, Maria and Roshon, and they ended up with 27 points apiece for their effort.
Team Paso Doble, captained by William, earned a 26, most significant in that it pushed Donald and William into a two-way tie for third place below Katherine.
Here's Monday's Dancing With the Stars scoreboard:
- Maria Menounos & Derek Hough: (30+27) 57
- Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas: (27+27) 54
- Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd: (27+26) 53
- William Levy & Cheryl Burke: (27+26) 53
- Roshon Fegan & Chelsie Hightower: (25+27) 52
- Jaleel White & Kym Johnson: (24+27) 51
- Melissa Gilbert & Maks Chmerkovskiy: (21+26) 47
What do you think of Maskim and Melissa's chances tonight? Are they finished? And is Maria the new favorite after she scored the first 30 of the spring?
And who do you think will win Dancing With the Stars?
